Harlin/Hayley Steele, MFA, (they/she/ze/he) is a PhD Candidate in Cultural Studies at UC Davis, with a dual designated emphasis in Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Performance and Practice. Steele is the lead narratologist and interim director of BasedMIP, a cross-disciplinary effort to create a new form of climate modeling and assessment tools compatible with the C-MIP. Steele’s artistic work includes the transmedia pieces Destination Wedding 2070(2019), a dark comedy set in the year 2070 in which climate change is the ultimate wedding crasher, and Thermophiles in Love (2016), a netprov and larp set in a 5-gender society of microorganisms while lampooning gender bio-essentialism.
